So... how is everybody? What's up? Tell us what's been going on in your life, or at least the parts you want to share. What did you do this weekend? Play any new games? Keeping up with studies/work? Essentially, rant. About yourself. About life. About your annoying neighbor. About politics. |

I would rant but seems a bit weird. I'll answer any questions asked of me though. |

I went to my first anti-fascist protest, which was awesome. If you ever have time you should look up the English Defence League. They claim they are against the "Islamification of Europe", but they really use their protests as an excuse to beat up Muslims and non-English people. They were going to go down to an area of London called Tower Hamlets, an area with a large Muslim minority, and protest outside the Mosque. So naturally, we went down there to stop them from entering. And we succeeded. I'm planning, along with my girlfriend, to become much more politically active. Talking on blogs is one thing, but actually going out and getting involved can bring about results. I'm thinking of going to protest against the proposed cuts to healthcare on the 9th September. Other news? I'm currently renewing my passport. Boring stuff. I also need to buy new glasses - I have been virtually blind since mid-June. I'm also planning to save more money. I spend far too much. It's a habit I find it difficult to shake off. I've been buying a lot of books and watching a lot of movies recently (I'm pretty excited about the Troll Hunter film coming out soon). I've bought dozens of books this summer. If you're a nerd and concerned about the Zombie Apocalypse like me, then you should probably check out "World War Z" by Max Brooks. I'm going to buy his "Zombie Survival Guide" book too. It actually does make you wonder how we would react to such an event... My work out schedule has bulked me up by a tiny bit. I'm thinking of taking muscle building drinks to gain some mass by Christmas. That's about it from me. A lesbian hit on me the other day. I was pleased. :) |

Hell yeah, that's awesome Seto. : D I ought to be more politically active as well. A fellow I work with follows politics pretty closely and the discussions we have over lunch make me realize how inactive I am in local and global politics. I really don't want to be one of those people that sit back and don't take an active role in voting and political affairs. Hmm. I think we should have regular (weekly? biweekly?) threads over a political topic in the world.
Doing good so far. XD As for me, I've been enjoying my really geeky job and playing a lot of Minecraft. Apparently I'm going to be working with the aforementioned coworker to design a working prototype of the i-cocoon concept I posted here a long time ago. Edited by Nubi, Sep 5 2011, 09:58 PM.

HOLY SHIT! That's awesome~! You people make me feel inadequate... I'm working at Wal-mart making 8 bucks an hour... I feel like I am doing so much better financially than my peers in the local area, yet you guys are always... doing something amazing. |

That's a brilliant idea. I think I'll get the ball rolling :-).
That is amazing. What exactly goes into planning something like that? |

lol! I'm sorry, I've spent the last four years having no life, no job, and finally got around to getting my license. XD So, don't feel inadequate.
A lot of shit I do not understand in the least. We were trying decide how to get a 180 degree wrap around screen to work. We could use three monitors as seamlessly as possible, rear projection TV screens, a shower curtain to project onto (cheap prototype version), a specially made curved screen... And then there is the motion tracking and interaction. 1-3 cameras, eye detection, voice detection, a color-curtain for a gesturing guide. (If you put your hand forward enough red will show on the tips of your fingers. At this point you know your hand is aligned correctly for interface gestures. You can start using hand gestures to operate a desktop environment. Go through folders, play music, whatever). Then Kevin, my coworker, gets into the REALLY technical aspects where I just kinda nod in agreement and try to absorb as much of it as I can. I'm geeky, but I've decided I'm not an uber geek. We're looking into a lot of open source options. Prebuilt libraries for motion tracking and what have you. Its confusing. Edit: Oh, and it is a personal project. Completely unrelated to the job we actually do. Edited by Nubi, Sep 11 2011, 12:21 AM.

Well, awesome Nubi. ^^ I hope you have fun with it. Waaay too much for me. I'm much more nerd than geek and I'd probably just stare at the project and cry from inadequacy, haha. You're too smart for me. As for me, I'm registered to start classes in the spring now that my financial aid has finally gone through. I'll be working towards my masters in Psychology. Lyra is now 15 months, walking, talking, and eating anything she can get her hands on without gaining weight. Aren't babies supposed to be chubby? She's not. >< All slender and (god!) legs. And, since she's now found the joys of Barney, I think I'm going insane. Maybe I'll write a paper outlining the psychological triggers in Barney and why it fascinates children. ^^ Also, I'm engaged. Yay! Haha, moving up there next summer, and excited. Randomly, I got a new laptop yesterday, so I'm just an all around happy person. Haven't really had the time for political activism, but I plan to get into it at my first opportunity. Our country is going to hell without the handbasket, and that doesn't work for me. Idiots in government. In American news, did anyone hear about the shooting in San Diego? A couple kids were throwing rocks from the overpass (idiots) and a guy pulled over, pulled out a fully assembled and loaded crossbow, and shot one of the kids in the gut before just driving away. Who the hell keeps an assembled crossbow in their truck? Kid's non-critical, and they haven't found the guy. Considering the damage those kids could have done, do they arrest the guy or thank him?? (And we're starting to stock up for the zombie/economic apocalypse. Keep at it Seto. *grin* Hope it holds off until Lyra's old enough to really run on her own. That'll make things easier.) |

Woah, that's a lot of awesome in one post, Rin. O.O I'm really glad you get to start classes! It's about time. Lyra is getting so old, has it really been that long? You guys need to visit again, cuz I'm too lazy. XD What do you plan to do with that master's in Psychology? As for me, I've been playing a lot of Minecraft and Wurm lately, screwing up my sleeping patterns completely, working, etc... I totally managed to back right into a ditch while pulling out of my friend's driveway last Sunday. Was an awesome fail -.- I really am a good driver! I also went clothes shopping last weekend. All. by. myself. I kicked ass. Yes, clothes shopping IS a battle. And now I have some work appropriate clothing. |

My university is starting back next week, and I'm just starting to realise how unprepared I am. Although, I have been promoted to "Online Relations Director" and "Journalist" in two respective university societies. It sounds a lot more awesome on paper though. I'm pretty excited about doing stuff for them. I'm bursting with ideas. |

Kick ass, Seto. Hope you're having fun with that. ^^ Nubi, I'm planning to open my own practice and maybe set up connections with the justice department so that adolescents who are court ordered to attend counseling come to me. ^^ I want to work with kids who are like I was. And yeah, she's that big. O.o It's amazing. And I'm not sure if we'll be able to come down. >< We'll be saving all the money we can for the wedding. And damn, you went shopping on your own?? And didn't fill your closet with zelda-wear?? Wow.....*grin* |
